6 Nov: SCIE3860-17AA - Falling in Love with Science Exams – Improving Exam Outcomes Through Full Engagement With and Decoding of Texts
The GCSE Science exams involve deconstructing questions that include subject specific terminology, diagrams, unfamiliar contexts and interpretation of experimental data. This course will explore ways this can be successfully achieved using a variety of teaching and learning strategies throughout their study which result in increased outcomes in exams.
8 & 21 Nov: SCIE3867-17AA - Developing Writing and Recording in Science at KS2
A course to help KS2 teachers understand the purpose of writing and recording in science and how to support children in developing these skills.
13 Nov: SCIE3874-17AA - Development Network for Non-Specialist Teachers of Science 2017
Networks for non-specialist teachers of science with the knowledge and skills to teach practical work safely and with a learning focus. It will help teachers identify and understand the important scientific ideas that need to be taught and provide support and challenge in planning for this learning to be achieved.
16 Nov: SCIE3873-17AB - Teaching Exciting Science for the EYFS
This three-session workshop-based course is designed to gain a greater depth and breadth of ideas to enhance learning through exciting science in EYFS.
21 & 22 Nov: SCIE3868-17AA - Developing Writing and Recording in Science at KS1
In this course teachers will explore why recording and communicating are important in developing scientific understanding and how to support younger children develop the skills of recording through play, talk, drawing and writing.
27, 28, 29 & 30 Nov: SCIE3872-17AA - Science Co-ordinator Conference – Primary
In the annual conferences for science subject leaders we will explore an aspect of science teaching or leadership in detail. This year we will be focusing upon a more holistic understanding of the key ideas that underpin the National Curriculum, in order that it can be taught more effectively.
